AFSCME Council endorses Rob Young for the General Election
The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Council 31, Illinois’ council of the largest trade labor union of public employees in the United States, has endorsed Robert Young for Winnebago County Board’s District 17 seat in the November 2020 General Election.
AFSCME is the largest union in the AFL-CIO with over 1.3 million members. AFSCME Council 31 represents over 75,000 members in Illinois and is a leading voice for working families in the state. Council 31 endorsements are based on candidates’ records and stances on issues of importance to union members and determined by rank-and-file delegates at regional meetings.
Young is running as a Democratic candidate for his first term as a County Board representative. A native of northern Illinois, he is a graduate of Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville and has served as President of his family’s business, Midwest Packaging and Container (located in Machesney Park) since 2012. He serves as a board member for the Rockford Chamber of Commerce, Natural Land Institute, Rockford Promise, and Shatter Our Silence, is a member of the Strategy Team for Next Rockford and the Rockford Area Economic Development Council, and was named a Rockford Chamber of Commerce “40 Leaders Under 40” honoree in 2019.
The General Election is November 3, 2020.
