Letter to the Editor: "Support Rob Young"
Rockford Register Star Opinion: Letter to the Editor, published March 10, 2020
I am writing to highlight a candidate for the Winnebago County Board, Robert Young.
I've known Young professionally for several years in his role as president of a manufacturer in Machesney Park called Midwest Packaging. In the seven years he has run this family business, it has doubled in size, improved its diversity and has engaged with employees in ways that were refreshing and new.
Young accomplished this in his company because he is smart, a hard worker (a farm kid and Division I college tennis player) and deep down he cares about people. All of this, wrapped in a 32-year-old (Rockford home owner) who is aching to get involved.
Young is also tapped into our next generation leaders, having been a member of the Rockford Chamber's Ignite Young professionals group, a graduate of Leadership Rockford Class of 2015-16 and leader at Next Rockford. I think electing Young will help us connect to the swell of young people that want to do good things for the community but aren't engaged.
Please support a next-generation, hard-working employer/entrepreneur who is proactively raising his hand for a very hard job.
