Northwestern IL Building & Construction Trades Endorses Robert Young for Winnebago County Board

The Northwestern Illinois Building and Construction Trades (NWIBT) Council, an alliance of 17 craft unions that work together to improve relationships and create harmony among its member organizations, has endorsed Robert Young in his bid for the District 17 seat on the Winnebago County Board.
"If you haven't already voted please support these labor-friendly candidates when you stop by the polls. We need to elect candidates and causes that help working men and women,but we can't do it without your help!" stated NWIBT in a Facebook post which shared their full slate of endorsements.
The NWIBT is an alliance of 17 craft unions that work together to improve relationships and create harmony among its member organizations. The NWIBT strives to improve the quality of life and job opportunities for over 15,000 members throughout an eight-county area in Northwestern Illinois. NWIBT belongs to North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) based in Washington, D.C. NABTU is a labor federation of 14 Building Trades unions founded by the American Federation of Labor in 1907. The organization currently represents over 380 state, local, and provincial councils in the United States and Canada, and is dedicated to the stability of employment and economic security of organized construction workers in North America.
Young is running as a Democratic candidate for his first term as a County Board representative. A native of northern Illinois, he is a graduate of Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville and has served as President of his family’s business, Midwest Packaging and Container (located in Machesney Park) since 2012. He serves as a board member for the Rockford Chamber of Commerce, Natural Land Institute, Rockford Promise, and Shatter Our Silence, is a member of the Strategy Team for Next Rockford and the Rockford Area Economic Development Council, and was named a Rockford Chamber of Commerce “40 Leaders Under 40” honoree in 2019.
The General Primary for the Winnebago County Board race is March 17, 2020.
