Robert Young Files Petition for 2020 Winnebago County Board General Primary Election
Robert Young has officially filed a petition with the Winnebago County Clerk to appear on the General Primary ballot in the March 17, 2020, election. Young collected over 150 petition signatures in his campaign to be the next Winnebago County Board District 17 representative. Today’s filing ensures his name will appear on the ballot as a Democratic candidate for Winnebago County’s 17th District.
Born and raised in the Rockford region, Young graduated from Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville and returned to Rockford to manage his family’s business, Midwest Packaging and Container (Machesney Park), where he has served as President and CEO since 2012. “I have worked tirelessly to create a workplace culture that empowers our people and consistently puts them in positions to succeed, for both themselves and the business.” Under his leadership Midwest Packaging and Container has doubled sales to over $20M, generated 60+ new jobs, added a 50,000 square foot factory expansion, and invested millions of dollars into business improvements.
Young’s belief that “…business leaders have a great responsibility to be community leaders…” is reflected in his numerous positions of community service, including: board of directors for the Rockford Chamber of Commerce and board member with Natural Land Institute, Shatter Our Silence, and Rockford Promise; member of the Next Rockford Strategy Team; and Founding member of 100 Men Who Give a Damn, a fundraising group established to support the Family Peace Center. Young was also recently named a 2019 “40 Leaders Under 40” honoree by the Rockford Chamber of Commerce.
The General Primary for the Winnebago County Board race is March 17, 2020.
